Bite turbos are small platforms bonded to your teeth. When you bite you will find that your teeth contact these platforms, which prevents you from closing all the way. You back teeth do not touch, this is temporary. Bite turbos will allow for the speedy correction of your bite.
You can expect to have some minor irritation to your tongue the first three to five days. Swallowing and eating will also be a challenge for about two weeks. Be sure to brush between the turbos and the gums to keep the area plaque and food free. Eating a soft diet (like macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, etc.) initially will help with the transition.
On occasion the doctor will recommend elastic wear during the bite turbo correction. It is important that the patient wears the rubber bands consistently, until they are told to discontinue elastic wear.
Dr. Vecere will remove the bite turbo as soon as the desired bite changes have occurred.
Please do not hesitate to ask Dr. Vecere and staff any questions.
