Spacers/Separators

  • Separators are tiny elastics placed between your teeth.
  • They are used to create space between your teeth so the “bands” can be accurately placed.
  • Your teeth may be sensitive but the discomfort will be gone in a few days.
  • To relieve any soreness, rinse your mouth with warm salt water and/or take one or two Advil (Ibuprofen).
  • Please avoid ALL sticky or chewy foods.
  • Do not try to pull separators out.
  • Please brush your teeth at least three times a day. Do not floss the teeth that are separated.
  • If a separator should fall out before your next appointment, please come in 30 minutes early and let the receptionist know so we can replace them to ensure we have adequate space.
